Rwanda : How to keep your eyeliner from smudging
Eye shadow is a cosmetic applied on the eyelids and under the eyebrows. It is commonly used to make wearers eyes stand out or look more attractive.
In Rwanda, many women who wear makeup strive to look their best by using effective materials. When you visit some ladies saloons, make up products are in variety, meaning ladies won’t stand a mistake on their face.

When it comes to facial make up, eyes and lips are the most attention-given areas. However, some unexpected problems like eyeliner smudging in the crease (fold) of the lid might happen. The cause might be how it was applied or the quality of the eyeliner.
Here are tips to prevent eyeliner smudging
First apply a thin coat of eye-shadow primer to clean eyelids, blending it into the creases with a finger. It will give your liner something to adhere to and will prevent the liner from transferring color to the creases.
Next, dust a translucent loose powder or skin-colored eye shadow over the primer to set it.
Finally, apply your eyeliner. It also lasts for the long haul when it’s pushed into the lashes with a damp, flat-edged eyeliner brush. If you’re the traditional pencil type, draw a line and top it with a similar-color eye shadow to set it.
When using only one eye shadow, layer it more heavily around the lash line, then softly blend it so that it fades naturally at the crease.
If your mascara flakes and falls into your eyes minimize it by applying an extra coat of clear lash gel.
What to avoid:
- Use water proof eyeliner. Eyeliners work differently for everyone so you will just need to try and find something that suits you best.
- Find a good eye shadow primer that actually works for you.
- Avoid products that contain high SPF (sun protection factor) around your eyes. Having products that contain SPFs around your eyes/on your eyelids is likely to make your eyes water under bright light/sunlight.
The above steps should guarantee less smeared eyes, but if not sure, sweep on a clear makeup sealer to protect against smear-inducing water and humidity.
With these few simple application tricks, that liner will last until you are ready to wash it off.
